Bow Ties are Back

When I first consider doing a bow tie deal, my first thought was, “really?… bow ties?”  I was showing my fashion ignorance.  From GQ to the New York Times to MTV the consensus is that the bow tie is fashionable again.  I admit that the only times in my life I’ve ever worn a bow tie was a skinny clip-on with a tux… and usually as a groom or a best man.  But I’ve ordered my first-ever, non-clip-on fashion bow tie from OoOTie and I’m gonna take the plunge.  I may not wear it to the grocery store but I know my wife will be thrilled that I’m showing a little style next time we head out for a date night.  If you’ve ever thought about trying a bow tie (or especially if you’ve never considered it!) now the perfect time give it whirl and show some class.  If you’re a die hard tie wearer then this is your chance to add a few more pieces to your collection.

Gimmie some Chucks!

I remember wearing Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars back in the 70′s.  I just talked to my dad on the phone and he told me he wore the hell out of them back in the 50′s.  If my grandfather was still alive I’d ask him if wore them in the 30′s (probably a big fat “yes”)… and whether he knew if my great grandfather wore them when they were first released by in 1917!  How’s that for tradition?

And when it comes to fashion… Chucks are classically cool and eternally hip.  No other shoe in history has managed to remain fashionable for more than 90 years.  From jeans to silk suits, there’s almost no look you can’t carry off in a pair of All Stars. And is there a serious celebrity anywhere on earth who hasn’t been spotted in a pair?

It’s been a quarter century since I owned a pair of Chucks but that’s about to change.  Of course, back in the 70′s it was pretty much black, blue or white, high-tops or shorts.  Now there are literally hundreds of styles, from neon colors to plaid to camouflage to cartoons to artsy prints.  But I think I’ll be sticking with the classics!

Dealometry is launching!

With the help of a bunch of amazing people, Dealometry is finally fledged!

First and foremost, Dealometry is about raising the bar on real deals for real guys.  So if you’re a guy (or a women who buys for them) you should see a very high hit rate of deals that you like on Dealometry.

Our launch deal is brilliant — ManPacks.  Imagine never having to shop for tshirts, socks and underwear… ever!  Let’s face it guys… we hate shopping… especially for the essentials.  So we end up with holey socks, yellowed tshirts and ragged underwear.  And trust me, our lady friends hate this more than we do.  ManPacks solves this problem with automatic recurring delivery of all these essentials and more.  When I heard about ManPacks I knew immediately that I would become a customer and I knew that I wanted them to be the launch deal for Dealometry.

If all you care about is cool stuff for guys, then read the special thank yous at the bottom of this post and then go buy the ManPacks deal and get on with your life.

Dealometry is also about collaborative entrepreneurship.   If you also care about such things as startups and incubators and big bodacious government initiatives to spur the economy then you may find it interesting to read about how Dealometry came into being.  You learn a bit about the Dealometry back story by reading  this big, complicated press release.
